We're the heroes in this fight. Now it's time to do what's right!

Paramedic, Mount Sinai West

George Davila

“It’s hard to put into words what we have been through during the pandemic. I watched families say final goodbyes to their loved ones on the street as we brought them into the ambulance, struggling to breathe. My colleagues got sick, they were hospitalized, some died. Some are still sick. I didn’t see my own family for two months – I had to live at a hotel. We all showed up to work and did double shifts and more. We were always there. There were consequences. Even for those of us who did not get COVID, there is post traumatic stress and depression and anxiety. For those that did, there are horrible long-haul symptoms. Today, our health benefits are more important than ever. Our ability to retire with dignity after what we have been through is essential. You must leave our pensions alone! I need to know that I can retire after 34 years of this work, and receive the pension I have earned.”
